Sanctuary Counseling
Missions & Outreach
Heather Griffin, a member at St. Mark’s, has provided low-cost counseling to qualifying patients for several years here in the parish hall. Heather is a licensed counselor. Heather’s goal, along with the St. Mark’s Counseling Ministry Board, is to provide quality and affordable mental/behavioral health services to those who are uninsured or underinsured and do not qualify for state/federal assistance programs. Heather provides a wide range of preventative services to individuals, couples, and families to reduce improper use of Emergency Room and primary care services. An estimated 20% of the population in Gaston County is uninsured according to the 2013 Community Needs Assessment conducted by a partnership of the Gastonia Health Department and CaroMont Health.
Heather is hoping to add new counselors to this ministry as soon as possible to better serve those in need of low-cost mental and behavioral health services. Heather could use help with advertising and needs updated furniture/lightning for her office here at St. Mark’s.
